Mandarake + Aoshima CrossOver - Mecha Patchouli

Frankly, I dunno what this is for I have nvr played any 东方project game, this, probably is just a side merchandise of that. Bought this mainly because saw it in Akiba Mandarake , n most importantly its affordable 100yen list price.





Size of an SD kit, single color part, and it comes with a wind up mini motor. Oh yes, this thing can move. XD


Insturction is simple enough to be printed on the inner side of the box. Overall, after snapfit n glad to know there isnt much fitting problem to tackle.

The biggest challenge to me in this project is probably masking for different colors on the same parts.
Feeling ultra lack of confidence in my masking, I m not taking short cuts but to deepen all panel lines for areas that needed to be masked. Weel, can't deny that I have overdone on many though.

For the completed kit photos, actually I find sometimes it s hard for me to present pretty much 100% OOB work, as it is just ... nothing much to show huhu.

Oh yeah, actually I did add a little extra onto the kit. For the rivets on the body, I had changed them with some metal ball of size 0.8mm. The weird eye balls, instead of painting them, I had used some half sphere aftermarket.

Other than that, pretty much OOB , sprayed with metallic colors.

Who Killed The Rabbit? - Japan WonderFest Summer 2018 Unknown Sculptor's Work

The real question is: who is the sculptor.

I bought this minits before I was leaving Tokyo Summer Wonderfest 2018. A small display with this rabbit caught my eyes. Not sure who the sculptor is as I remember I just told the person behind the booth I wanted one, paid money n left.

Of course, another thing that made me didnt think twice is the 500yen price.

It has no instruction, no any indication of websites or description on the sculpture n its creator. There s only one small resin cast display signage that s, i supposed, to be painted n displayed together with the rabbit. Unfortunately, the casting isnt the best i have seen, half the words are quite impossible to read. The only information I got is the sculptor should be from Tsukiji Tokyo area.

Ok photo first, talk later , while I m quite doubtful i have much to talk about...

As straight forward as u can see, this is a rabbit resin kit, with a small dagger and part of it intestines still hanging on its tummy area.

Total parts: 5pcs the 2 ears, the dagger, instestine, n the main body.

Can really feel the sculptor did this in a very short time because even the round part I can almost feel how he knit the clay before correcting it n make it perfect.

As usual, I just added a little thing so I have that feel of "personalize" the kit. I dug out the rabbit's right eyes so the visual effect would be more abundance. Just that I was lazy n impatient to sand down that part to make it looks more organic. That's the reason the bloody hole looks a little too hard for an organism; especially a hollow one where the eye ball s gone.

Anyway, this merely took me a few days, mostly r  for sanding n filling up holes only.

Really enjoy the painting process: fast n satisfying.

Tamiya Dangun Racer - STINGER JACK

Frankly, I have seen some of these some time back in KL, but I do not have much knowledge about it except thinking it is another attempt from Tamiya to add some variation onto their mini 4WD series, which at that time was kinda quiet down a lot. Moreover the few I saw in town, which later I found that are the basic/early ones which the designs are much simpler n less flashy.

Recent trip to Japan which, to my surprise, manage to find a few with very reasonable price n attractive designs too. For me , a second hand kit in pretty much mint condition (to the japanese, they r  considered "box damaged") that only cost less than 500 yen, why not?

This is the back story of this group build I have with Farid: We each pick one n build them as for display, not for race, quality.

Similar to  traditional mini 4WD, Dangun racer is meant to be modified n upgraded to boost performance too. Moreover, unlike traditional mini 4WD, this doesnt have dedicated race path for each car; instead, they race like nascar; with quite some pushing n physical contact with your fella opponents. The chasis s divided into 3 parts which I can see is for easy interchange of various option/extra/upgraded parts.

Overall the fitting is typical Tamiya's no-complaint type.

The main challenge here is because we are supposed to make it look nice, static model quality, there are a few things i realize i would prefer to change a little bit.

First, the stickers. Yes, as usual n expected, comes with stickers. Cartain parts with tamiya uses stickers to represent, I have gotta use paint instead. Mainly this is because, especially where surface has quite some curves n unevenness.

Second, I add in a little more detail; well, self made up types, as long as it pleases my eyes. LOL. added some metal bolts, nets, a little photo etched stuff etc.

Third, just mask, mask, mask, and mask. I hate it. The good thing is I am getting so much better in tolerating imperfections; which is really considered a good thing to me. This is like a milestone in my plastic modeling journey, which I enjoy it so much; besides I feel so proud about myself.

This is pretty much I have gotta say about our little group build project that starts n ended in the beginning of the year. Very happy n fulfilling one actually. :)

Marui 1/144 Best Collection - ARMORED WALKER

Oh yes..... U do see it right: It's Marui, and yes, not any battery operated airsoft gun, but a spring powered sci fi kit.

Best is, this looks like some bootleg. Well, since the absence of any Star Wars logo, typeface; I wouldnt call it a bootleg. However, the design of the walker, even the small flying objects in the background of the boxart, u cant deny they look quite close resemblance of AT-ST and snowspeeder.

This is what happen during the 80's in Japan and lets refresh our memories of how Japan rose to a super power by reverse engineer others' stuff.

Overall, this is a very simple kit. As usual it does come with some toy element: a spring powered wind up motor which the walker can actually walk.

For my side, I just add up a little bit of details, especially on areas that look kinda empty to me. I the motor in it though probably i will not play with ti at all after i have had painted it.

Also did a small vignette on a wooden block. Snow terrain. I was trying to do melting snow that is quite icy n wet on the ground. but as usual, i think i have had overdone with the powder snow. Besides that, I realize the way i paint, it is extremely difficult for me to capture interesting colors on photo

Anyway the side panel of the box where advertisement s, I saw another AT AT like walker.... just couldnt find it though....
